We appreciate you following us through the past few months as we've rebuilt and expanded. I know it says just about everywhere on the site, but truly, they only way we can move forward is if you guys tell us about music you want to see featured; it's not without reward - show us something awesome, and we'll acknowledge you.
As a major stakeholder of the site, I really try and view PFW as a piece of the bigger puzzle. There are so many music news sites that offer reviews, videos, podcasts, etc. so why would anyone come here for that type of content? Well, for starters, your not going to see any local groups on any of these news sites, despite their "Indie" description which is surely a marketing ploy aimed at gullible "indie" kids. You're smarter than that.
Q:"But Joey, what's with all of these popular bands that the team's been posting about recently?"
A: Excellent, well dictated question. Well kids, lets face it. A lot of bands suck - many bands without a following don't have one for a reason. It's that tiny percentage of local groups that have a niche, a spark that makes them amazing and that's what interests us. With that being said, why can't PFW.com have a balance of both local bands and of slightly less independent (but not huge) names? No reason I can see; you want to know about good music? Then we're going to write about it.
I was perusing a certain nameless music news site yesterday, comparing reviews from theirs to ours. Their writers had wholly different views than ours, which is totally fine, though I found it to be entirely too cynical (another demon plaguing these hip news sites). What really stuck out is the garbled, stuffed, stat-heavy prose on literally all of these news sites. It seems a common journalistic trend these days is to confuse and annoy readers - but hey, whatever brings in ad revenue.
Anyway, as we grow here at PFW, I hope you appreciate the casual and personal writing, and the variety of both known and unknown bands. We're having a lot of fun over here, so we just hope you'll spread the word. If you'd like to help us out by putting a banner on your blog or MySpace, just e-Mail: info@praiseforwallflower.com and one of us will personally provide you some code. Moreover, if you'd like to see something on the site or have experienced any problems, feel free to mention it.
Much love,
Joe of Team Wallflower
