    VIDEO: Fireflies

Just over two years ago, Adam Young began creating music under the name "Owl City." He went on to release two albums independently until early 2009 when he was signed to Universal Republic Records. Owl City's music is simple, wholly electronic, very bleepy, and just straight up pretty.

With a play count in the multi-millions on Myspace, it was evident that Owl City was going places. Young's un-labored vocals are clearly what make Ocean Eyes (his biggest and most recent release to date) so popular. While I find the music to be slightly generic and a bit translucent, it's impossible to deny Young's ability to make a lasting imprint on your head. I happened to catch their single "Fireflies" on a radio station while on the way to see a classical guitar performance this week, and was enjoying the indulgent and lush melodies. I'm not allowed to post any mp3's, but I'm sure you'll have no trouble listening if that's your aim: Owl City is everywhere and still growing.
