To make up for last Friday's lack of a feature, I'm redeeming myself with the Golden Silvers. From their lack of a guitarist to their use of keyboard synths reminiscent of the 1980's, this London trio is far from ordinary. Fronted by singer/keyboardist Gwilym Gold, the Golden Silvers take pride in the fact that they are making an effort to be original amidst their peers. It's safe to say that they are definitely succeeding in standing out. The first impression I received from hearing this band was somewhere between The Talking Heads (as a result of their distinctively 80's synth samples) and The Smiths (as a result of witty and unique lyrics and vocal melodies). My favorite thing about this group, however, are their music videos - which are just as unique (or even more so) than their music. Aside from watching the one embedded below, I highly suggest checking out all of their other videos (via the XL Recordings YouTube channel.
Their debut album True Romance (which I only just discovered a few days ago) was released in April of 2009. I have not been able to stop listening to said record since I got my hands on it. Embedded below is a music video for the track "Arrows of Eros," as well as two streaming mp3's of "Please Venus" and "True No. 9 Blues" - all three of which can be found on True Romance.
