Philadelphia duo, Pattern Is Movement has captured my attention and refuses to let it go. Andrew Thiboldeaux (vocals, rhodes, bass) and Chris Ward (drums) have truly created a work of art with their latest 2008 release “All Together” off of Indie label, Hometapes. The first track off of “All Together” entitled, “Bird” is so powerfully infectious that the only possible reaction upon listening is to be starved for more. With influences such as Beirut, QuestLove, and Jon Brion, Pattern Is Movement touches all the right musical spots one could hope for. Ward’s beats are incredibly innovative and have often sent my legs and arms into a pounding frenzy while listening to “All Together” in my car. Every track of “All Together” introduces new elements of Pattern Is Movement; a musical tour of these talented Philadelphians. Andrew Thiboldeaux’s voice shows great control and understanding, as does his work with the keys. In a sea of self-declared musical pioneers, Pattern Is Movement is the genuine article.
