Ghost Away, consisting of Brian Medlin (of The Minor Times and Person L fame), and a guy known only to me as eric, hail from philadelphia - the city of brotherly love which is home to cheesesteaks, mummers, and 50% of my blood line. The best way to describe their first and only album, Siberia (which is available as a FREE download on the ghost away website) is very experimental and electronic. Having already been familiar with Brian Medlin's personal music - Ghost Away seems to serve as an electronically altered extension. And a very successful extension at that. The tracks found on "Siberia" range from slow, dark & drone-y to quick and more rock-driven. They manage to present us with a VERY large amount of unique and interesting electronic sounds, in combination with some very melodic guitar chords and sweet vocal melodies. My personal favorite from the album - "Blackout Monologue" - is one of the more slow, dark, and drone-y type tracks, with some extremely interesting electronic sounds going on. You can listen to it below:
In addition, Joe recently brought my attention to a video that Tyler Auman directed which goes along with one of the tracks from "Siberia" entitled "Holding Back The Ocean." Check it out below:
