This past month, several members of the PFW team drove up to north Jersey to get an interview/live footage from the group Waking Lights. We gave you a sneak peek of what me managed to capture last week by uploading a handful of their live songs (edited beautifully by PFW member Andrew) onto our new PFW TV channel. If you haven't checked those out, you should do so immediately - such a great live show.
Waking Lights, a five-piece folk-rock group from northern New Jersey, is far from ordinary. Why do I say that? Perhaps its because all five members met and are students and/or alumni of William Patterson University. Or maybe its due to the fact that each of them comes from an individually unique musical background, but as a whole they are able to blend naturally into one cohesive sound. Or, perhaps, its the fact that they not only record, but also perform with string players (albeit a cello player, having recently lost their violinist). Sure, they label themselves as a folk-rock group - but they're certainly not your ordinary, often boring, often monotonous, everyday folk-rock group. The members of Waking Lights have managed to develop a very unique, rich sound and are capable of reproducing it live with much success. To get a better idea of what I mean (and find out some more information on the group as a whole) check out Episode 3 of our Video Interview Series below:
