    The Gaslight Anthem

Having been home from school for the past month or so and being extremely tired of the CD library in my truck, I've made my annual shift back to NJ radio stations - and surprisingly enough, I've actually become fond of a new local group thanks to it. As of late, G Rock Radio has been playing an awful lot from The Gaslight Anthem. They're a rock group hailing from New Brunswick, New Jersey - the home of Grease Trucks sandwiches and Rutgers drunken President, Richard McCormick. If you give them a listen, however, you wouldn't even have to think twice about where they're from because they sound a lot like Bruce Springsteen - so much so in fact that they have taken a bit of heat about sounding too much like the Boss. I personally don't see the harm in it. They seem to me like a pretty solid rock group that embodies the Jersey shore sound at its best. They're latest record, "The '59 Sound," serves as full proof. Below is their music for the single "The '59 Sound" and an mp3 of my personal favorite from the record entitled "The Patient Ferris Wheel." (PS - I'll give $5 to anyone who can guess the guest vocalist on "The Patient Ferris Wheel")

    "The Patient Ferris Wheel:"

THE SKINNY: The Gaslight Anthem is a solid, Jersey shore rock band
FAVORITE TRACK: "The Patient Ferris Wheel" off of "The '59 Sound" (2008)
APPROPRIATE FOR: Proving that the Jersey shore isn't just for fist pumping, excessive hair gel, bad tans, and Jager bombs
    FOR FANS OF: Bruce Springsteen
