Lake is an indie-pop group hailing from Olympia, Washington. Having been signed to K Records, however, it's obvious that they are much more than just another indie-pop group. Through the use of both male and female vocals, they manage to belt out some pretty elegant group harmonies accompanied by very catchy, upbeat guitar and synth melodies, horn instruments and a vast array of percussion. Their latest album "Oh, The Places We'll Go" was released on K Records this past October. Aside from it's seemingly "simple" musicality, perhaps its most intriguing aspect is the vibe and emotion that it manages to give off. As soon as you turn on the very first track, you'll be clapping and singing along until the very end. In other words, Lake manages to squeeze an enormous amount of joy and delight into nine relatively short and upbeat songs. I'm going to break my video streak and just host up two tracks from their record. The first, "Blue Ocean Blue" is my favorite song from the album. The version I'm posting, however, is actually a more subdued, live version from a Daytrotter Session they did back in Early October. The second is the album version of another favorite of mine entitled "Counting."
